変わりゆく東京を銀座スケッチで振り返る

スケッチの投稿をし始めてから10年以上経ち、その間ことあるごとに描いてきた銀座の街の様子。というのもかつて数年間この街に仕事で通い続けたこともあって、銀座には勝手ながら愛着があり、今となっては馴染みのレストランもなくなり、行きつけのブティックもないのだけれど、行けばただいま、とでも言いたくなるような気持ちになります。（反対に、しょっちゅう行くことがあってもいつまでも馴染めない街というのもあるんですけど。）

（上）2011年、この当時日産のビルは和光のビルと比較して、このくらいの高さだったんですね。（4丁目交差点付近の歩行者天国の通りからの眺め）

2013年4月、松坂屋の看板が右手に見えます。（これも歩行者天国の中央通りからの眺め、6丁目あたり）

2013年6月、松坂屋内でバーゲンセールがありました。（その後閉店、取り壊し）

2014年7月、松坂屋とその周辺のビルが取り壊され、GINZA SIXのビルが建てられる直前、敷地が塀で囲まれている様子。（平日の中央通りからの眺め）

2017年1月、日産ギャラリーという白くて網の目状の外観のビルが現れていました。（和光前あたりからの眺め）

2018年4月、Tokyoミッドタウン日比谷が出来上がっていました。（Tokyu Plazaの展望階からの眺め、だったかと）

2021年7月、街には新しいTokyo Taxiが走っているけれど、コロナ禍で観光客もほぼいない。（中央通り7丁目からの眺め）

2022年5月、足場が組まれ、解体が始まった中銀カプセルタワー（海岸通りあたりからの眺め）


この刻々と姿を変える東京の今を、今度はみんなで銀座をスケッチすることで再発見してみたいと思っています。ジャーナル風に、こんな建物があった、こんな服の人がいた、こんな料理を食べた、といった大、中、小、のエレメントを一つの画面に捉えるというお題のワークショップをしてみたいなあと考えています。

Now We Are a Big Group — Sketch Walk from Ginza to Tokyo Station / 銀座～東京駅スケッチウォーク

今年から月例会を始め、毎回告知を頑張っているからか、はたまた暖かくなってきてみんなスケッチに出たくなるのか、スケッチ会への参加者がどんどん増えています。お天気に恵まれた4月の月例会は銀座から東京駅まで練り歩いて描くという企画でしたが、時間に少し遅れて集合場所の銀座和光前に着いてびっくり。なんという人数でしょう。。

Since we started having monthly gatherings, USkJ has been getting bigger and bigger. Last Sunday, I arrived a bit late at Ginza Wako, the meeting place for our April meet-up, and got really surprised there were many, many people.

これで全員じゃないんですよ。。ちゃんと数えていませんが、最終的には25名以上来たと思います。

Actually, we had more. Though I didn't count the number, I'm sure more than 25 people came in total.



集合写真を撮ってから、各自散らばって書きたい場所へ。鳥海さんがわたしたちが描いているところをカメラに収めてくださいました。いつもありがとうございます。たくさん写真を撮っているのに、めちゃくちゃ描いてもいらっしゃるのですごいですね。

Under a beautiful spring weather, we started wandering around individually. Casey-san took pictures of us drawing. Even though he takes a lot of photos, he always makes multiple sketches in an hour or two as well. That's amazing.

12時からは中央通りが歩行者天国、もといスケッチャー天国になりました。もう道に寝転がって描いちゃう。

At noon, Chuo-dori Street turned into a pedestrian paradise, which I thought we could call a sketcher paradise too. You can sit or lie down on the road and sketch.

午前セッションの結果。壮観！いつもこんなかんじで地面に並べてミニ鑑賞会をするのですが、今回は数が多くてどれが誰のか聞くだけでたいへんでした。。

These are the results from the morning session. What a great variety! We always throw down sketches and have a quick review after a session, but this time it was a bit hard just to ask which one is whose because there were so many.

ちなみにわたしは和光と、歩行者天国に切り替わる頃合いの銀座四丁目交差点を描きました。

This is my sketch. I drew the Wako building and the Ginza 4-chome crossing.

午後は各自適当にお昼を食べたりしつつ、東京駅方面へ移動。気づいたらあまり時間がなく、東京駅の上のほうだけ描いて、空いたスペースを道行く人の落書きと文字で埋めました。

In the afternoon, we divided into smaller groups and walked to Tokyo Station. I realized I didn't have much time to sketch after lunch, so I quickly drew the bones of Tokyo Station and filled blank space with random doodles of people and some words.

鳥海さん、こちらでもたくさん撮ってくださいました。みんな散り散りになって、好きな景色を描いています。

Here are some pictures of us by Casey-san again. We sketched what we liked individually. Even though we would be in the same place, we would see different things.

That makes our sketches rich in variety. These are the results from the afternoon.

ということで、午後のスケッチもバラエティ豊かです。

充実した一日の最後に打ち上げ。13人もいたのでせっかくだからパラレルペンでががーっとみんなを描きました。さすがに全員は描けなかったけど。

At the after-party, I made a parallel pen sketch. I was on the edge of our table, so I had a good view.

4月の定例スケッチ会は銀座〜東京駅周辺で行います。言わずと知れた日本の中心地。有名百貨店や歩行者天国、アイコニックな東京駅など描きどころたくさんなので、できるだけいろんなものをスケッチしましょう！

We have April's Urban Sketch Meet-Up around Ginza and Tokyo Station. The area has different things to draw from the famous department stores to the weekend pedestrian street, and to the symbolic Tokyo Station. So let's sketch as many things as we can!
